POMA Teams with Wonders of Wildlife

to spread awareness of National Hunting and Fishing Day
and strengthen participation in events and celebrations

JOHNSTOWN, Penn., August 19, 2006 - Members of the Professional Outdoor Media (POMA) association are putting their pens, voices and cameras behind the National Hunting and Fishing Day effort.

As official partners, POMA and Wonders of Wildlife, the official home of National Hunting and Fishing Day, have joined together in an effort to strengthen public awareness of the fast-growing list of local, open-to-the-public National Hunting and Fishing Day events.

During POMA's 1st Annual Business Conference at Springfield, August 24 27, Tony Schoonen with Wonders of Wildlife will inform POMA's media members about the National Hunting and Fishing Day initiatives and celebrations to help them develop coverage of the event for their respective publications and broadcast networks.

The partnership between POMA and Wonders of Wildlife is a natural one, explained Betty Lou Fegely, chairman and president of the media organization. POMA is the only international media organization devoted wholly to the traditional fishing and hunting sports. Our media members are renowned worldwide and reach millions of readers, viewers and listeners every day.

Helping to spread the world about National Hunting and Fishing Day is more than a good fit for our communicators though, Fegely added. Growing interest and participation in hunting and fishing is part of POMA's Mission Statement.

Wonders of Wildlife, the National Fish and Wildlife Museum and Aquarium in Springfield, Mo., is Located at Springfield, Missouri. The museums 91,000 square-foot facility that cost $51 million to build, features over 225 species of live animals in realistic habitats. Its the only hunting- and fishing-focused facility that's both affiliated with the Smithsonian Institution and accredited by the American Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

Since 1971, National Hunting and Fishing Day, founded and fostered by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), has been called the most effective grassroots campaign ever undertaken to promote hunters, anglers and the conservation benefits they provide for all Americans who appreciate wildlife and wild places.

POMA is considered the premier professional media organization in the traditional sports industries. POMA boasts more than 360-members including, writers, editors, photographers, broadcasters, and hunting and fishing industry companies, organizations and associations.
